How long does an interior design renovation or project typically take? Here is a timeline of what the process actually looks like and why each phase needs time. This would be typical for a project that includes contractors and renovations such as a kitchen remodel, whole floor remodel where walls are moving, bathroom renovation, etc.
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
USUALLY TAKES: 1-2 WEEKS
Playing with layouts to find the best solution for the space.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
USUALLY TAKES: 2-4 WEEKS
Working off of the layout to decide furniture and material selections,
ordering finish samples to prepare for design presentation.
BUDGET & SCHEDULING
USUALLY TAKES: 1-2 WEEKS
We are working with manufacturers during this time to put together invoices that outline
all of the details of the project. We are coordinating with contractors schedules to ensure that the
construction timeline flows as seamlessly as possible.
PROCUREMENT (AKA ORDERING EVERYTHING)
USUALLY TAKES: 1-3 WEEKS
Placing orders with manufacturers and finalizing any small details required for installation.
IMPLEMENTATION & CONSTRUCTION
USUALLY TAKES: 4-16+ WEEKS
The contractors are hard at work transforming your home during this time!
No matter how hard we all try, there will be dust hiding in every nook and cranny that you think you've prepared for.
Don't say we didn't warn you.
INSTALLATION & STYLING
USUALLY TAKES: 1-2 WEEKS
Furniture is being delivered, window treatments are being hung, decorative lighting is being installed,
and accessories are being placed. (Our favorite phase!)
FINAL WALKTHOUGH & HANDOVER
USUALLY TAKES: 1-3 DAYS
Once the renovation is close to wrapping up, we do a walkthrough with the client to
go over any touch-ups that may be necessary and to make sure everything is to our client's satisfaction.
PROJECT CLOSURE & FOLLOW-UP
USUALLY TAKES: 1-2 WEEKS
Contractors finalize any touch-ups that are necessary to complete the project.
